KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team fell in five sets to Houghton College but bounced back to defeat D'Youville College in four sets on the opening night of their season at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
The Wolves (1-1) will continue with the Keuka College Invitational on Saturday as they host SUNY Delhi and Hilbert College.
Sophomore Lauren Moelbert had a career day for the Wolves. She set a new career-best with 19 kills in the loss to the Highlanders. She followed that up with 18 kills, which tied her previous high, against D'Youville. The offense ran through fellow sophomore Alyssa Rex. The Arizona native had 53 assists against Houghton and 41 against D'Youville.
In the match against Houghton, Tally McDonald also set a career-high with 14 kills. Keuka found themselves in an early hole against the Highlanders. Down two sets, the Green and Gold rallied, taking the third set 25-19 and the fourth 25-16. Houghton pulled it out in the end, however, hitting .438 in the fifth set to win the match 3-2.
